In January 2020 I was commissioned to produce a painting of the walking trails of Mount Congreve Gardens, Co. Waterford to be used in their walking guide map in November 2019.
The Gardens comprise of around seventy acres of intensively planted woodland, a four acre walled garden and 16 kilometres of walkways, so this was a big exciting project for me.
There had been several versions of the guide map throughout the years, but given the size of the gardens and extensive paths and trails, both Ray Sinnott, Estate manager and Ann Power, Brand Consultant, wanted a map that was beautiful and painterly as well as being accurate and easy to follow.
So my free days were spent pouring over old maps and images, as well as wandering through the beautiful gardens, taking photos, drawing, painting and generally absorbing the peaceful beauty of the place.
